Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) or skin needling, is a treatment that uses microfine needles to gently puncture the skin. This process stimulates the skin’s natural healing response, resulting in the production of collagen and elastin to create smoother, more rejuvenated skin.
There are three phases to the wound healing response:
- Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
- Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
- Phase III: Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.
This treatment can be used to treat a wide range of common concerns, such as scarring, fine lines, pigmentation, enlarged pores and congestion.
A series of 4-6 treatments, every 4-6 weeks is recommended for the best results.
