Treatment Spotlight: CIT

WHAT DOES CIT INVOLVE?

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is commonly referred to as skin needling. This treatment uses micro-needles to gently puncture the skin. By doing this, we create micro-wounds, which assist the body to activate its healing response to encourage regeneration. The treatment is pain-free and downtime is minimal!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CIT?

CIT has a range of benefits, including:

  • Promoting skin healing
  • Encouraging the production of collagen and elastin
  • Reducing appearance of pores
  • Improving skin tone and texture
  • Fading scars and pigmentation
  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Increasing absorption of topical treatments

WHAT SKIN CONDITIONS IS IT BEST FOR?

CIT can treat a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Sun damage
  • Ageing
  • Scarring
  • Pigmentation and scarring
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin texture

CAN ALL SKIN TYPES HAVE CIT?

Most skin types can have skin needling, however some preparation may be required. This is referred to as a detox period, which is necessary to strengthen skin before commencing a more invasive treatment. This will be discussed in the initial consultation and a personalised treatment plan will be provided.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME OR AFTERCARE REQUIREMENTS?

There may be a small amount of downtimes required after CIT. In most cases, the skin experience redness and some sensitivity that should subside within a few hours.

After this, the skin may remain slightly red or feel tight as though it is sunburnt. Minor peeling or flaking may follow, however should be minimal.

It is important to follow the treatment with the aftercare prescribed.

We recommend booking CIT well-prior to events or special occasions, or choosing an evening or weekend appointment to allow your skin 24 hours to calm before work/other commitments.
